I am not very into resolutions. Probably because I have a tendency not to make official resolutions. Don’t get me wrong, I think that goals are important and fundamental to human success and progress, and I take the time to write down goals, I just don’t usually share them or call them resolutions. However, this year is different…
A new resolution trend in the digital space is to give your new year a theme rather than declare a resolution. I like this idea. While a theme may not provide you with a concrete goal, it does help guide your goals and your efforts in the new year. Therefore, this year, I want my theme to be CONSISTENCY.
When I took a look at my goals for 2016, I realized that many of my goals revolved around things I sometimes do, I just want to be more consistent so that I can achieve a new level of success in my life. When I was thinking of ways to be more consistent, my mind kept gravitating toward 30 Day Challenges. I read a blog called The EveryGirl and they host a new 30 Day Challenge every month. Each challenge is designed to help women improve some aspect of their life. In some cases, you are committing some extra time to learn and improve, and in other instances, these challenges are designed for you to form a new (hopefully long-lasting) habit.
Some of my goals for 2016 include being a better pet parent to Rooney and spending more quality time with him. So I thought to myself, why not create 30 Day Challenges and share them with other pet parents who want to participate?
The following 30 or 31 Day Challenges (29 in the case of February) are designed to either help you form a new habit or take the time to learn something new. All of these themes provide your pet with benefits that may lead to a healthier and happier life. Without further adieu, here are the 2016 Challenge Themes:
January: 31 Days of Exercise Challenge
February: 29 Days of Dental Health Challenge (Yes, it’s a Leap Year!)
March: 31 Days of Poison Awareness- What are common poisons for pets and what can you do about it?
April: 30 Days to the Best Pet House- Organizing and Cleaning, Making Your House with Pets Fully Functional and Guest Ready
May: 31 Days of Safety Preparedness
June: 30 Days to the Best Year of Health for Your Dog
July: 31 Days of Eating Right
August: 31 Days of Manners
September: 30 Days of Getting to Know Your Breed
October: 31 Days of Tricks & Treats
November: 30 Days of Giving for Animals
December: 31 Days of Grooming- Looking Pretty for the Holidays
What can you expect from me if you choose to participate in these challenges?
During the first week of each month, the challenge will be introduced. For example, I will introduce the 31 Days of Exercise Challenge tomorrow. Each introduction will include helpful information on getting started and to help you succeed. I will also post updates and motivational information throughout the month on my social media channels. Some months will be more about an activity (i.e. more motivation) while others will be more about information, improvement, and a few action items.
How do I participate?
Simply post pictures of you completing the activities associated with the challenge on social media using the hashtag #MKHP[month]challenge. So for example, this month will be #MKHPJanuaryChallenge. Really, I want everything to be about you as a pet parent and your pet. It would make me so happy if by the end of 2016 I hear things like, “Since your February challenge, I now brush my dog’s teeth every day” or “You inspired me to learn more about my dog’s breed and what types of health conditions they are predisposed to”. Hopefully, a year from now, we are celebrating some amazing accomplishments.
Let’s work together to make 2016 our pet’s healthiest and happiest year! Who is with me?
